Complaints range from passing and shooting feeling so ineffective that any sort of build-up play felt impotent to the supposedly improved AI being woeful in defense and games as a whole feeling sluggish. Some praise has been given to eFootball's renewed take on the 1-on-1 battles between attacker and defender, but the game seems to have forgotten there are twenty other players on the pitch. While this seemed like a promising start for fans of the PES franchise inherited by eFootball, these changes feel like a massive step back. Like EA Sports had been touting their new HyperMotion Technology, which has widely been regarded as an improvement in FIFA 22's gameplay, Konami had made several promises about new features and developments that would make eFootball an even more accurate football simulation. Visual issues can be forgiven if the gameplay is strong enough, but it doesn't appear that eFootball pulls that off either. The disappointment continues when it comes to the gameplay. Disappointed players have been posting screencaps of eFootball's wonky facial animations that have turned some of football's elite into distorted messes, with character models finding themselves similarly bent out of shape to the point that players look like they were drawn by H.R.
The most obvious shortcoming of eFootball's launch, and the one that made waves through social media, are the various visual bugs plaguing the game.
